Await Rescission Underground extreme metal heroes, Auckland, New Zealands ULCERATE make their Relapse debut with Vermis a pummeling, brain twisting example of just how creative and challenging the death metal genre can still be, without becoming obtuse or arty. Combining truly original dark atmospheric guitar work with powerful, blastbeat driven drums, Vermis achieve a wholly unlikely harmonizatio. Vermis is the fourth full-length album by New Zealand death metal band Ulcerate. It is the first album by Ulcerate to be released through Relapse. While the band has been noted for its use of dissonance, drummer Jamie Saint Merat countered that dissonance for dissonances sake is extremely fatiguing. Given this, Merat said that Vermis uses melody in a weird and unsettling way to create a tangible amount of tension. Текст песни: Before an empty gaze Stand to proclaim the end The corrupt control and deliver fate Bring ruin upon free to Ulcerate Vermis Odium, Vermis and more. 9 tracks 54:16. The overriding theme for the album is centred around the idea of tyranny and oppression in all its forms, and exploring this concept from all angles particularly via dogma, power, manipulation. As mentioned before we're using the Latin worm version of Vermis metaphorically for the spinelessness, cowardice of tyranny from both sides. Album 2013 9 Songs. More By Ulcerate. Audio mix is are technical, but the New Zealand metal band should not be branded with the soulless tech-death stigma. As complicated as this music may be, their fourth album is a collection of songs, not exercises. Are Auckland, New Zealand's Ulcerate a technical death metal band They're certainly technical, boasting complicated arrangements played at dizzying tempos. Ulcerate, however, cannot and should not be branded with the tech-death stigma. Commonly, tech-death bands are criticized for having no soul, meaning they emphasize flash over songwriting. Ulcerate - Vermis review: In combining the finest elements of its previous works, Ulcerate reaches terrifying new heights. There may not be a more convincingly apocalyptic band than Ulcerate. Death metal groups constantly promote themselves as brutal or heavy or crushing, but this New Zealand trio has mastered the art of soul-withering songwriting by honing its craft on a deeper level. Fitting together layers of dissonance in a way that makes sense is a difficult task, since it often goes against established musical paradigms, but its what Ulcerate thrives on. Ulcerate Vermis. Various Artists High Cotton: A Tribute to Alabama. Windhand Soma. Combining truly original dark atmospheric guitar work with powerful, blastbeat driven drums, Vermis achieves a wholly unlikely harmonization of Neurosis and Morbid Angel. Vermis is a genuine affirmation of how thrillingly brilliant extreme metal can be - an instant classic of forward thinking death metal. Artist Site Released: September 17, 2013 ON Relapse
