Chill Out, released by The KLF in February 1990, is one of the earliest ambient house concept albums. The music portrays a mythical night-time journey to the U. Gulf Coast states beginning in Texas and ending in Louisiana. Chill Out was conceived as a continuous piece of music, with original KLF music interwoven with samples from songs by Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, Acker Bilk, Van Halen, 808 State and field recordings of Tuvan throat singers. KLF- Chillout. 1989 - Classic ambient album ,mixing eclectic source material with samples and effects. Released in 1990, Chill Out was The KLF's first full-length album and the record which would go on to coin the phrase 'ambient house'. In Febuary 1990 The KLF released their concept album Chill Out, coining the phrase ambient house with their downtempo soundtrack for a fictional roadtrip along the southern border of America. Recording Process. As so often with The KLF, the basic idea came to them not as the result of meticulous research but from a happy accident in their studio instead. We did a mix of a House track, left the drums off by mistake and suddenly realised that the House pads and chords sounded brilliant without the beat. The KLF - Chill Out. Chill Out isnt available on any streaming service except YouTube, and you cant purchase a download of it. The KLF took their album off the market, along with the rest of their back catalog, when they called it quits in 1992, yet another immolation of sorts. But it feels fitting that this definitive album from the most lawless of groups wouldnt circulate within established channels. Whatever copyright law might have to say about it, Chill Out is an idea that cant be stopped. Chill Out, first released in February 1990, is an unequivocal masterpiece, a comedown companion only matched-and even then only just-by Brian Eno's Ambient 4: On Land. The KLF record is a truncated musical interpretation of a literal, physical journey through the Gulf Coast of the United States, a stargazing territorial essay that takes in Elvis Presley, Aker Bilk, Tuvan throat singers, a Radio 1 rock show jingle, dialogue from long-forgotten 50s sci-fi flick The Brain from Planet Arous, and Fleetwood Mac. You're whisked away from reality into a semi-recognizable dreamscape, a place where the liminality has quietly, subtly, taken control. Pulling Out Of Ricardo And The Dusk Is Falling Fast. American, British and Russian radio stations are heard throughout the album BBC pips and a jingle from Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show on BBC Radio 1 Rock radio into the nineties and beyond. 7: 'In The Ghetto' performed by Elvis Presley. 8: 'Albatross' performed by Fleetwood Mac, and of 'After The Love' performed by Jesus Loves You

Need one? I know where you can get a M/M copy (without the hype sticker). ask .....
Why is this actually blocked for sale here on Discogs?
It turns out Banquet records still have this so I’ve brought a copy! Thanks for mentioning it!
Does anyone know of a remix/tribute to this album called "Out Chill" which further plays with the samples? I have it in my iTunes but don't know if KLF made it or some other DJ. Web searches only bring "Chill Out" results.
I wonder how many copies this was? Also, a bit sad that this is blocked from statistics/owners/wants.I also wonder if this was issued by the dudes themselves after all.. ;)
I've been getting them from the US, I think there have been 2 pressings. they originally had the sticker on the front then another batch came along with no stickers on the front and slightly darker print.
been following this release since it popped up in mid 2017. I guess between 500-1000 copies were pressed. The origin of this release in the US so the KLF are not behind it for sure.
Got this reissue from HHV Online Shop, Berlin. Well pressed version! Sounds clear. Nice sound qualtity in total. ☮️
Count me in on agreeing this sounds great. I had a copy of the original, but it appears that someone that was in my house decided they liked it more than me. Wasn't willing to spend $80+ on an original and this sounds as good if not better than my original did. Got mine on eBay BTW. Look there since you can't get it here.
Does anybody else's copy have a really bad smudge near the end of Madrugada Eterna? I'll post pics in a bit when I get home, I've tried brushing it off but it's still there.
Got a copy from Banquet Records online shop, since you can't buy on discogs any more.
Sounds great. Very quite. Good pressing for a boot. Very happy with this one.
Top-shelf quality boot! Dead quiet pressing, perfect sounding. Outside of the washed out color on the cover sleeve; this is am impressive and thoughtful repressing. I’ll preserve my original wax tracks pressing! GET THIS!
If any Londoners are interested, I’ve just picked up a copy of this from Banquet in Kingston - looks like they’ve had a few back in
Going to sound like a broken record, but this sounds fantastic. Being an unofficial release and pressed on clear vinyl seems like some very strong red flags to me. But when I saw this pop up in my local record shop and then read the reviews here, I took a chance. Glad I did because all the praise this release is getting are justified. Quality sound that plays dead quiet and is properly centered. Don't pass it up if it ever comes your way. Highly recommended.
Mine is of a superb sq. I got 2. In case of interest.
Is that +1 copy of yours still available? It sounds like I should go for it...
My original got a bit scuffed :-( I missed this repress.
The best unofficial reproduction of this record on (clear) vinyl. I've played this on a loud sound system and it's well worth having in the collection. The sticker on the outer sleeve shows the serious dedication to detail. Given there's never been a repress and there likely never will be - this is nice surprise to get my hands on for well less than an original pressing - although, I'd still love to get an original in my hands. I'll make due with the original CD and this bootleg vinyl.
I know nothing about this release other than that it's a bootleg, The KLF deleted their back catalog at the 1992 Brit Awards, and and that they came back with a notice in January of this year stating that they had reformed after their 25 year hiatus. The pressing is so good that it has to come from master tapes. There is no information on any record labels on it other than KLF Communications. I'm pretty certain this was released by the band on their own label. I may or may not be right but the idea of this makes me pretty happy.
It's the US version, with the missing engine sound. Probably pressed from the Wax Trax CD.
The original master tape was a cassette! It could easily have been mastered from an original JAMSCD5 CD. This is an unofficial bootleg. Nothing more.
There is a date code of 2017 inside the sleeve.
Sounds fantastic. Sounds like a real release. Good looking sleeve w/ sticker too
Excellent pressing. Omits motor noise at end of A7 compared to UK original.
