Cloudkicker is a one man instrumental progressive metal project by Ben Sharp . Sharp from Columbus, Ohio, USA, heavily influenced by math metal and post-rock. Sharp utilizes drum machines and custom-tuned guitars in his recordings. Cloudkicker's first album, The Discovery, was made in 2008. Album 2012 7 Songs. Rock 2012. Fade, 2012. From the Balcony, 04:40. The Focus, 03:12. Cloudkicker - Fade review: Something old and something new. While he hasnt always had a diehard group of fans salivating over everything Cloudkicker, Ben Sharp has been setting his own personal bar with every subsequent release since 2008s The Discovery. Those who have been with him since the beginning have seen a dramatic change in his overall sound. The days of being compared to Meshuggah are long gone. Has all the hallmarks of a classic: one track flowing into the next the track sequencing is so good, each a solid piece of music in its own right, majestic, complex time signatures and tough, edgy guitars, but winning you over with just heart-melting chords and progressions. Highly recommended album. Had a little chat with Ben via email about Fade getting a vinyl repress. He said he's looking into it and just trying to work out what's going to be best.
