Buffalo Springfield is the eponymous debut album by the folk rock band Buffalo Springfield, released in December 1966 on Atco Records. It peaked at 80 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. It is the first album to feature the songwriting of future stars Stephen Stills and Neil Young. Buffalo Springfield were formed in early 1966, playing their first gig at The Troubadour club in Hollywood in April of that year. Buffalo Springfield Again was just about as perfect an album as any released that year, containing such classics as Youngs Mr. Soul and Broken Arrow, Stills Bluebird and Furays A Childs Claim to Fame. It did better on the charts, reaching 44, but by the end of the year the writing was on the wall for the band. Their final gig took place on this very day-May 5-in 1968, topping a bill at the Long Beach Sports Arena also featuring Country Joe and the Fish and Canned Heat.
