Flick of the Switch is the ninth studio album by Australian hard rock band ACDC. Released in 1983, it followed the highly successful Back in Black and For Those About to Rock albums. Flick of the Switch is the third ACDC album to feature lead vocalist Brian Johnson, and last to feature drummer Phil Rudd before his eleven-year break from the band. It is the band's eighth internationally released studio album, the ninth to be released in their native Australia. Music video by ACDC performing Flick Of The Switch. C 1984 J. Albert & Son Pty. Even for a band that never indulged heavily in drum fills and guitar solos, Flick of the Switch feels pared down. From the pencil sketch cover art to the production handled by the band themselves, there is an obvious desire to return to their scrappy, fists-up Aussie roots. Real rock 'n' roll, as played by purists who grew up in the thick of it, is what this album is about. The album was originally released in the United States on August 15, 1983. The album was self-produced by ACDC and reached 4 in UK and 15 in the US. Though considered a disappointment when released, the album is today praised by many fans for its rawness and energy, and was certified platinum by the RIAA. After problems with rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, drummer Phil Rudd was fired midway through the recording sessions, although he had completed h. With Flick of the Switch, the Australian mega-bar-band ACDC has now made the same album nine times, surely a record even in heavy-metal circles. Intellectually, it's a dubious achievement, of course. But there is still something perversely reassuring about the brute, Godzilla-like stomp of ACDC's rhythm section, the industrial guitar crunch of Angus and Malcolm Young and the macho bark of singer Brian Johnson. Produced by the band, Flick of the Switch isn't quite the monster blowout that 1980's Back in Black was, and the Young's retooling of old riffs for new hits al.
